Happy New Year!
2015 was our first year as a chapter and what a rewarding year it has been! While the beginning of the year consisted of us getting organized and establishing our goals, we still were able to reach out to those in our community to begin making a difference. We assisted numerous families and individuals in finding resources and treatment to help them with their recovery. We offered self-defense classes for women in recovery. We established relationships and opened dialogue with owners of recovery houses in our community to begin finding ways to assist those entering recovery with personal needs and programs. We did a lot of public outreach by attending various public events including National Night Out, local carnivals and fairs, and York County Heroin Task Force meetings and public forums. We spoke at various organizations and schools, including the York County Drug Treatment Court graduation ceremony. We held socials to connect families dealing with addiction and those who have lost their loved ones to this disease. We were successful in obtaining a grant for Evzio, naloxone auto injectors, and held a public informational session on addiction and medication assisted treatment options where the kits were distributed free to the public and local recovery houses. We also donated Christmas gift bags to those in inpatient rehab in our area.
2016 promises to be another eventful year for us. We have a lot of programs and initiatives in the planning; our first 5K run, a memorial walk, and a golf tournament to raise funds to assist those in our community to name a few. Needless to say we are going to be very busy and very proactive in our fight to end the stigma and help as many people as we can in the upcoming year.
Not One More – York Chapter wishes everyone a very happy and prosperous New Year. We thank each and every one of you for your support and look forward to making a difference together.
